We had the first workshop to pray and work on MPCC’s 10-year direction. Pas Barney facilitated a “World café” feedback from the 30+ members who were there.

Some questions were asked. I list some of the replies here which resonated with most.

What would we want to see happen by 2036?

• Culture shift in terms of mindset – more hospitable/sincerity in

welcoming new people

• A church that can adapt without compromising on biblical truth

80% of church members giving

• Higher expectations & accountability of members

• Praying Church

• Spirit-filled

• Double the number of people

• Keeping with the times but still connected to our Anglican roots

• Greater involvement by church members (outreach / serving)

• Youth Vibrancy, Strong Youth Group

• Wise Leaders

Intentional Discipleship, Mentoring

• Missional (Local, overseas)

What should we start?

• Organizational renewal - matching right giftings to right roles

• Building relationships/interactions between English, Chinese & Filipino

ministries

• Prayer walks & interest groups

• Practise excellence - review & improve processes, get expert help if

needed, set expectations/objectives/targets

What’s working?

• Members take ownership of ministries eg. farming, Sunday School,

Happy Times

• Munch Brunch/Food Ministry

• No strong division

• Strong in fellowship and welcoming

• Strong Filipino community that actively serves despite time constraints

What doesn’t make sense?

• Whipping the willing horses - same people doing many things

• Only "old" or forever serving members in PCC committee. Include the

younger ones (late teens / young adults)

• Working in silos

It is still early days. The process is to encourage more in MPCC to care and pray

for church’s future. Even if some of you are not coming to the workshops, we

love to hear from you too.

Do continue to keep the prayerful conversations going.
