A Pre-AGM Ministry Update

As we prepare for our AGM next Sunday, allow me to share a few updates on upcoming events and ministry emphases in the life of our church.
On marriage and parenting, we will be running our Pre-Marriage Course in July, which will also be open to those in our neighbourhood and the wider public. In addition, we are exploring a Family Life Seminar in the third quarter. As part of this ministry area, Noah and Anne Pillai will be leading a Parenting Seminar at Lat Krabang Church in Bangkok from 20–22 August. Do keep them in prayer as they minister overseas.
You may have noticed that we will be launching a Biblical Foundations Course
in May. This will form part of a broader biblical training track, with a series of courses held on Sundays after the service. In many ways, this revives the tradition of Sunday Adult Bible classes, with the aim of strengthening biblical literacy among our members. More importantly, this is not merely about the transfer of knowledge, but about spiritual formation through God’s Word. Among the facilitators are James Ong, Dr Ang Hui Kheng, and Eliza, with more to come on board in due course.
We are also giving greater attention to Science and Faith. Over the past decade,
significant developments in science have challenged assumptions that many of
us grew up with. While not everyone may be closely following these conversations, some are—and it is important that we thoughtfully integrate what we learn with our faith. At times, new discoveries can even deepen our understanding of God and His creation. We are therefore planning a series of talks and seminars in this area.
From July onwards, we will also see more youth speakers taking the pulpit,
beginning with Youth Sunday on 5 July. The Youth Alpha will also commence in July. Do remember Pas Emily and her team in your prayers as they invest in the next generation.
Preparations for our 50th Anniversary Dinner on 5 September are also picking
up momentum. With its creative flight-themed concept, do be ready to “buckle
up” for what promises to be a joyful, meaningful, and perhaps even humorous
celebration together.
The planning for Christmas@Joo Chiat is also getting exciting with the involvement of various groups in our community apart from churches. We have set aside Saturday 19th Dec for the Carnival.
Meanwhile, pray for those who are participating in the coming Alpha Day Away. May the holy Spirit work and touch many hearts.
Finally, we are continuing the process of discerning a 10-year direction for MPCC. As we seek the Lord’s leading, may those involved remain open and attentive to what He is doing among us. Often, it is the posture of our hearts— our expectations, desires, and longings—that positions us to receive a fresh work of God. We do this not only for ourselves, but also for the generations of MPCC-ers to come.
