We have completed the works at the front porch of the church: a new low
wooden gate, re-laying a new wooden floor, opening a door at Community Hall
and installing a retractable awning. We recall that the purpose for this is:
1. To beautiful or remove an unsightly frontage, especially the previous
damaged flooring
2. To open another pedestrian access point which goes right into Comm Hall
3. To extend the use of Comm Hall during large gatherings
4. To create a visual connection with Tembeling Road, which is our frontage
to the public
The porch area can be too hot on most days for practical use. We are looking
into adding some plants and to ventilate the place i.e using water cooling fans.
We welcome ideas on how we may continue to improve on that area and make
it more usable.
We have also received continual feedback from visitors that they do not know
that there is a church here in MPCC. This may be in part due to our name (i.e
“Centre”) or simply the lack of properly located signs that can indicate that we
are an Anglican Church running Services on Sunday. We are looking into ways to
improve on this. We are also embedded in a street which looked like a row of
residential apartments. There is little we can do about this!
The recently introduced shuttle bus services is a step in the right direction. It
puts MPCC back on the transport hub. This should make MPCC more accessible,
especially for visitors. Do make it a point to use it if it is helpful.
In the month of July, we are dedicating it to the “new generations.” We have
invited some youth workers and pastors to take the pulpit. What is the voice of
our younger pastors? Let’s hear with an open heart. And as always, invite your
friends to church.
B2B will resume in earnest as the second half of the year starts. This momentum
will go all the way to end November. B2B is only as good as the participants’
willingness to engage. As mentioned in one of the supplementary readings, the
discipline of surrender, study, solitude and service is important as we go through
the process.
Some peoples have asked: Why is the replacement for the Archbishop of
Canterbury taken so long whereas the new Pope was chosen so quickly? My only
answer, as far as I am aware, is that the process is taking longer this time round
as an Archbishop appointed from other Provinces is being considered. This could
be one reasons amongst a few.
Meanwhile, we ought to pray for the world. We cannot get accustomed to violent
wars with modern missiles which destroys the lives of ordinary citizens. A life in
Gaza, Ukraine, Iran, Israel or Myanmar is equally as important as a Singaporean.
This is our Christian perspective as each person is priceless and carry His image.
Think also about the untold grief the wars are causing to countless families. As
Christians we cannot get used to it or just take a side politically. This kind of
violence cannot be justified biblically. While we may feel helpless as we observe,
it does not mean that having the right perspective is not important.
