“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our
prayers.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 1:2
As I reflect on MPCC in 2025, I realise there is a long list of people we should be
thanking. As always, doing so runs the risk of leaving someone out. So if your
name is not mentioned specifically, please know that you are deeply
appreciated.
First, we give thanks for every member of our staff for their wholehearted
service. Eliza and Emily keep our communications and media running smoothly,
while also pastoring our youths and young adults. Emmanuel and Serena work
tirelessly on Alpha, Marriage Courses, and many other events, including Charis
Carnival and special workshops. They also oversee our Mission work.
Serene Kong and Jocelyn lovingly care for our kitchen ministry and oversee much
of the food preparation, marketing, and hospitality. There are also countless
hospital and home visits throughout the year, as well as many one-to-one
pastoral conversations that often happen quietly behind the scenes.
Our Filipino community is well pastored and cared for, and we are grateful for
Jocelyn’s faithful pastoring. Brian faithfully keeps our AV ministry running week
after week. Lydia continues to helm our administration with dedication, even
though seasons of health challenges. Philip keeps our church clean and patiently
bears with all of us! More specifics can be shared at the AGM, but for now, we
express our heartfelt appreciation to every member of staff.
We are also grateful to many who serve in various other ways. Iain Maidment
and Jessica Barron are often around helping with the farm, garden grounds,
fence upkeeping, and improvements. If you have noticed how beautiful our
grounds have become, we have them to thank.
The work of Zimrah continues week after week—worship leaders, singers, AV
crew, and musicians who serve faithfully. Leading worship requires preparation,
practice, and sacrifice amidst work and life pressures. I want to mention Joy and
Melvin in particular. Hannah worked closely with me and the staff previously,
and it has not been easy for Joy to step into that role after she left. Many of you
have stepped up in recent months to fill the gaps—thank you. We also appreciate
our dancers, who bring joy and expression into our worship.
I am also thankful for our Cell leaders and those who pastor the flock and reach
out to newcomers. There are also discipleship groups that quietly and faithfully
continue week by week. We are grateful to Ps Barney for leading the B2B
discipleship process, which engaged many of us over the past year.
Last but not least, we give thanks for those who serve on the PCC. The wardens
help carry some of the concerns and burdens that come with the role of Vicar.
Chin Hee works tirelessly in finance and governance, which is such a significant
part of church life. Lilian and Kenneth have also supported the evolving HR needs
of the church.
This has also been a year of a lot of writing. I am thankful to some of you for
using the daily devos faithfully and giving me needed feedback.
Finally, we give thanks most of all for one another. That we are a family in Christ
is reason enough for gratitude. You do not have to do something to belong here.
Your presence, your faithfulness, and your decision to be part of the MPCC family
are in themselves a rich and precious contribution.
So, do have a blessed New Year and may 2026 be a year of growth and
fruitfulness!
