Over the weekdays since Ash Wednesday, I have been writing devotionals regularly. The grace of the Lord has sustained me, and I am thankful for those who have taken the time to listen or read and voice their encouragement. I write prayerfully with the MPCC flock in mind, trusting that through these reflections you might hear what the Lord has been placing on my heart for you.
The need to “feed the flock” has been one of the key motivations that keeps me disciplined in this task. This is also why my Sunday Vicar Writes has been focusing more on ministry matters rather than biblical reflections.
This week, we bid farewell to Keith and Ying Ying, as Keith begins serving on staff for a season at True Light Church. Keith served faithfully as my warden in my early years at MPCC. I deeply appreciate their commitment and love for the church. Many of you have witnessed their generous contributions of time and resources across various ministries—church camps, Sunday School, Cell ministry, Happy Times, and more. They have also supported many areas of ministry financially. Even as they step into this new season, they will continue to help us plan for our 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2026.
We also bid farewell to Johann and Mary, as they return to Manila. They have been actively involved in our Filipino ministry and in Zimrah (worship). Each farewell is a moment of sadness as we part with those who have become such a vital part of our community. At moments like this, I am reminded of my mother-in-law’s wise words: “In life, we need to love deeply but hold lightly.”
As we prepare to combine our two Services into one at 10 am, please continue to give feedback to our PCC and staff. I will be meeting with the Filipino community and Ps Jocelyn to dialogue and assess how best to support their continued involvement in ministry and to ensure their needs are met. Beyond the 10 am Service itself, we hope to enrich Sundays through various pre- and post-Service activities. Our desire is to make each Sunday a meaningful and joyful experience for every member of our church family.
This morning, we warmly welcome my friend and colleague in ministry, Revd Victor Teo, to the pulpit. Please extend a warm MPCC welcome to him.
Meanwhile, a team is currently ministering at Lat Krabang Anglican Church in Bangkok (see photos), and some of our Youth staff and leaders are visiting Eternal Life Assembly to observe their youth ministry. Please keep them in prayer as they serve and learn.
May the Lord continue to strengthen and unite us as a church family in every season. Have a blessed week.
