Pre-AGM updates

The AGM Report is well laid out and thoughtfully organized, making it easier for members to get a fuller picture of MPCC’s life and ministry in 2024. I encourage everyone to read through it thoroughly. Beyond what’s covered in the report, I would like to share some additional updates that may be helpful for everyone—not just those attending the AGM.
Building Update
We had planned to complete renovations to our church frontage by mid-2024. This included new wooden flooring, a retractable awning, a new gate and fence repainting, as well as a connecting door between the front and the Community Hall. Unfortunately, the project hit some delays—particularly with the awning and door—as the contractor failed to complete the work. The Building Committee has since engaged new vendors, and we hope to see everything completed within the next month.
Youth Ministry
I’m deeply thankful for the leadership and dedication Emily has shown in serving our youth since August 2023. Eliza Poh has also contributed meaningfully alongside her. As of today, I’ve asked Eliza to take on the lead role, with Emily supporting her. I'm encouraged by their willingness to switch roles in a spirit of humility and service. It reflects a shared commitment to serve wherever needed.
Discipleship Focus (2025 and Beyond)
Looking ahead to 2025, we want to help every MPCC-er grow in their faith and walk with Christ. The recent BTR gave us a great launch for the B2B (Back to Basics) discipleship journey. Programs can take many names and forms, but the heart of discipleship remains the same: to be intentional in helping each other to grow in Christ and in community.
In decades past—yes, even in the 80s and 90s—such efforts existed, but times have changed. Today’s community is different, and we must consider the spiritual formation of our emerging next generation within a rapidly shifting culture. What doesn’t change is the need for koinonia—a deep, Christ-centered friendship that fuels mutual growth.
To that end, we’ve also developed a daily devotional, crafted to be both meaningful and manageable amidst busy urban life. Surprisingly, it’s gaining traction beyond MPCC, with estimates suggesting over 200 daily users across different churches. The devotions, available in both text and audio, reflect our Anglican heritage—anchored in the idea of common prayer and shared rhythm. Yes, our walk with God is both private and communal.
Evangelism and Outreach
If you refer to the baptism and attendance statistics on page 18 of our Report, you'll notice that we’ve been less effective in reaching those outside the church. This is a challenge we must continue to bring before the Lord, praying for renewed passion and breakthrough.
It's also true that our location lacks convenient public transport access. In response, we are exploring the idea of shuttle services from nearby MRT stations, particularly to support seniors and newcomers. With car ownership declining, commuting options matter more than ever if we are to grow our reach.
