What’s in a Name?
Our name, Marine Parade Christian Centre, or MPCC for short, carries with it an important history. When HDB estates began to develop across Singapore, Canon James Wong initiated a church-planting vision to bring churches closer to the heartlands, where many future generations of Singaporeans would live. “Extension Centres” were established in various HDB estates as outreach arms of existing parishes, such as the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Chapel of the Resurrection

More UK Reflections
How can one understand centuries of Christian influence and culture in an old Christian country like England—in just one week? You can't. At best, one can tiptoe through history, stopping occasionally for a deeper dive. Along the way, one encounters inspiring stories of ordinary yet extraordinary men and women who were willing to lose everything—even their heads—for the sake of the Gospel. At one end of the spectrum stands the simple parish church of St Mary's, Lutterworth. I

Greetings from UK
We had a wonderful Church Camp last weekend. We were richly blessed simply by being at the beautiful resort in Bintan, enjoying fellowship with one another, and receiving ministry from Revd Victor Teo. I have worked with him to prepare a series of Cell lessons based on his messages, and these will be available when our Cells resume in July. As many of you know, I am currently in the UK co-leading an Anglican history tour. We have visited places that are somewhat off the beate

7 June 2026
I trust that you have been able to follow the weekday devotions at Praydos. Each devotion is a short 10-minute read or listen. It is not intended to replace your regular devotional habits but can serve as an additional source of daily Bible meditation and spiritual nourishment. My hope is that these reflections will help build a reservoir of biblical truth and wisdom in our hearts. Writing them is one way I seek to fulfil my pastoral calling of helping to shape minds and hear

Explaining the Trinity
In the seventh century, John of Damascus, in his work De fide orthodoxa (“On the Orthodox Faith”), used the Greek word perichoresis to help clarify the mysterious relationship shared among the Persons of the Trinity. The term had already appeared earlier in the writings of Gregory of Nazianzus in the fourth century, but John developed it more fully and gave the Church a particularly vivid way of contemplating the Triune life of God. In Christian theology, perichoresis refers

Of Camp and Pentecost Sunday
We are now about three weeks away from our bi-annual Camp at Bintan. Church Camps are often highlights in the life of a church. The term “camp” comes from an earlier era when Christian groups literally went camping or stayed in very simple dormitory-style retreat grounds, often with large open spaces for games, fellowship, and community life. Here in Singapore, however, churches frequently use hotel resorts in nearby regions as Camp venues. This may be due to the lack of simp

Iona Reflections
It has been a real privilege to step away for this unique retreat in Scotland. As the only clergy among this group of 18, I have had the joy and responsibility of celebrating Holy Communion each day. On some occasions, visitors have also joined us. Over the past five days, we have reflected on themes such as martyrdom, the life of St Columba, silence, God’s creation, and the Celtic notion of “thin places.” Each reflection is followed by walks or hikes, where we prayerfully ob

Our Trip to Iona
I will be away for a spiritual retreat in Iona. This is organised by a close friend from SJSM. A clergy is needed to lead the daily Communion and this was why I was approached to join about two years ago. Our group of 18 will first convene in the historic city of Edinburgh. The final leg of our journey requires an early morning ferry, a coach ride across the Isle of Mull from Craignure to Fionnphort, and one last short ferry crossing before we finally arrive on the shores of

Faithfulness between the crescendos
Building up a new church work is always exciting. I have had the privilege of being part of such moments—through youth and student ministries, and later as a pastor in previous churches. There is a certain vibe in the air—a shared sense of movement and purpose—as lives become centred around the work of God. This is especially true when such beginnings are sparked by spiritual renewals. Much of this energy often comes from the younger generation. Student movements, in particul

The View From Above
A historical moment happened these past two weeks as the Artemis II mission soared around the far side of the moon on an unprecedented path that reached deeper into space than any human has traveled before. This marks the first time humans have left Earth orbit since 1972 with the Apollo 17 mission. It is helpful to note some of their observations as none of us here will have this opportunity in our lifetimes: to see the earth from outer space. I want to point out what is cal
